The October Birthday boys !!!

Arr.... look at those smile.... mommy has surely done a good job making them happy :)

The birthday present hint was airing at home since September although their birthday is in October. the big boy had only apple in his list and the little boy cannot make up his mind from Hot Wheels, Batman, Train Set, Games CD and etc.

I could not believe that I found the 'apple' while shopping in Megamall. The price looks good and most of all it fit in the description. Ever since then, I have been telling dear that I have got him 'the' apple and he will be well pleased with it. This is the latest 'crystal clear apple design'. Don't you think I am smart :)

As for Adam he was exited for a number of things .... party at school, shopping trip for his present, anticipates presents from friends and of course having a Happy Meals at Mc Donald. He was especially excited of a present with Spiderman wrapper that was given a few days before the big day. The trick is that he can only open it on his birthday. Boy ... oh boy the suspen is just killing .... and he just can't wait to turn 6.

Happy Birthday Boys !!!

Prawn Mee!! Prawn Mee!!

The boys and I got in the train with 2 big bag and a plastic bag full of food for our 9 hours journey to Penang. Eden was especially excited when I told him that he is going to be in the train for this trip.

We finally reached the island (with sleepy eyes) at 6am. The Hotel staff was kind enough to let us check in early that day and we knew we have the catch up our beauty sleep before our food venture

The temptation is just irresistable that we ordered Prawn Mee ( apart from Char Koay, Ice Kacang, Rojak and a lot more etc ) for lunch and dinner for both of the days.... and rated the one in New Lane to be the best. We must have been so busy eating that we forgot to take any photo.

The boys ... from the pool to the tub !!

Another special friend.

This is another special friend of Adam. She is 3 years older than Adam and I think they have know each other for 3 years by now. They enjoy playing all sort of games together. From the hi tech computer to just simply running chasing each other. They meet for their playtime with the rest of the kids on Friday while we adults have our life group together. Arr... she is a Barbie fan too.

Friends, God's special gift to us.

Tadika Suria Ceria

This is put up especially for Adam. Just in case I forgot about this bunch of wonderful girls and boys :)

There's a strong tie between all this boys and girls. ( I suppose that's because there had a lot of time playing together). Infact Adam just mentioned them again yesterday. The fact that I can remember most of their name really tell how much Adam talked about them at home. Ai Man, Jian Sheng and Adrian are his best dinasour and lego playmate. Xin Yi, she loves to draw and Adam will bring back either her's or his own potrait home most of the days. And of course Emily (the most popular girl in the class)

This is Emily. Your favorite chit chat friend. She is a Barbie Doll and Power Puff Gils fan. It was surprise that she still remember you and had asked her mom contact us to her Birthday party few months ago.

This was indeed another surprise to us. Teacher Rebecca did a farewell party for Adam and presented him with the special card and a Teddy Bear.

These are some special moment for you boy :)

Are You ready for Standard One ??

The Kindergarden days will end soon for Adam. That would mean less play and more homework - Malaysian Chinese School education system. Adam had started his pre school since age 4 and he has been in 3 different school. The first Kindergarden was very systematic and education oriented. We did not intend to start him start early but thought it's a good start since he express his interest to attend school. We changed him to another kindergarden as we are not happy with certain reward system that is creeping in the boy.

We called the second school the 'playschool'. This school believe that every child learns at different pace and see them as individual with different uniqueness. As oppose to the first school, everyone was expected to keep up to the pace of the 'champion' in the class. Wk's mom still think we should let him remained there.
Adam loved this school. Loves the playground, art work, sand playing, painting, lego sets, dinasours play, watching hamster.

This is his curent classmate. The only class and all of them will eventually start Primary 1 in this school. His 'exciment' started of with having to go back to Grandma's house with school bus as WK was not able to fetch him at noon. We 'secretly' watch him from a distance at the school area and trail the bus to make sure he is dropped safely. What is the other excitment? He came back one day (first week) and told me that there's this pretty girl with long hair and wears beautiful dress each day. Of course we had fun investigating who is that pretty girl.

Who should I pass the ball to?

Do I look like 'Dash' ??

We are proud of you lovely boy !!! Yeah Yeah ... yeah yeah yeah (cheer from Eden)

This is another date that Adam is looking forward apart from his Birthday in Oct. He is enjoying the book with his dad currently and I called it "Adam & Daddy's Special Project". Actually that it simply a way to get him bugging his dad instead of me. The two boys has been having a habit of coming to me for readings. So its good to hear " Dad.... Narnia ah !! "

Beware .... I am on the road !

2245.JPG

How I wish that KL road will always be as clear as the picture above. That will take out at lot of tension of what the Malaysian drivers are having...

Dear had drove me around at least 8 years and he says its time for me to bring him around now. Not only that... I am suppose to relieved him from driving the boys to school or grand's home so that he can in turn have his beauty sleep.

The only time that I was driving consistently was back in Sept 2000 when dear was in UK and I have to pick up driving. That also, I only dare to drive to and fro home to workplace. And now.... 5 year later I have to pick up again.. oh my ... how am I suppose to do it again. There's thosand and one thing I need to do ... control the steering, the cluth, the gear, see the side mirror, must not forget the rear mirror. Arrrh ... what about those nasty driver that would bang on you or horn you if you are driving too slow.

To my surprise, I pick it up easier this round. Maybe my FOC instructor's (my dear) pressure did some good to me. I can drive... actually I mean, I can drive to limited place only... so if you leave at the hill top or after a-round-about, you need to give me more time to get to your place..

Would I turn bald??

I am losing hair badly recently, that I even have a habit brushing my hair next to the dustbin so that I can throw it directly. I think I must have kept God very busy to keep track of my hair records. I am sure i can make a wig out. Dear has asked me to cut it short as I have been having the same long hair for a few years. Not that I don't like short hair but it drives me nuts whenever its hot and I can't tie my hair up. On top of that I would need to go to the saloon much frequently.

Maybe I should just cut before turning bald.

Parenting Lessons

With Eden added to our family, WK and I sometimes cautioned one another not to show any favourtism. Which in my mind, I would think of being fair and equal so that the child will not feel their siblings are being loved more or less.

But I came across this contrasting statement which say "Play Favourites - Equally" Infact the writer says that it is impossible for parents to never play favourites. The only parents who can do it is those having only one child.
The writer acknowledge that some parent's and children's personality mesh and others clash. And these makes the unique relationship that parent have with different child.
Indeed every child is special... so play favourites equally. I am not sure how this can be done but I am sure we need lots of wisdom and sensitivity when dealing with these little one.

I relate a lot more with this statement - Fair does not means equal. He says children place immese importance on fairness which to them often means exactly the same. Parents can fall in the trap of fairness, counting the number of M&M, measure the size of a cake and buying everyone a present when one has a birthday. This is where parents can drive themselves crazy trying to keep everything equal. It is impossible to treat our child the same all the time. Not all children's need are the same.
If this is the case, what can we do? Don't stress yourself to give equal opportunities every day. Aim for a balance in a big picture, not equal.

The next time when I hear " Not fair" I think I am able to deal with it better and not feeling guilty about it.

In the next paragraph the writer says that parent should avoid comparing. I am thinking that maybe we can compare if our motives is not to determine who is better. I do think sometimes WK and I compare to note the differences in our boys.

Fun Time !!

Looks like Eden is joining WK and Adam to enjoy reading. So ... again I am the odd one. Well... at least I enjoy reading with them and for them.

Eden is a another precious gift that God had given to us. I always wonder how Adam would have be like if Eden is not given to us. Life must be much much more boring without little 'didi' (brother) around. But of couse Adam also want his personal space as little didi has been very attached to him and wanting to join in all the activities. We are glad they are getting along well generally. Infact one of Eden first few words is "ToTo' ( KoKo) meaning big brother.

Lord we thank you for these precious gifts and we surrender them to your hands. Give us the wisdom to bring them up in your way.

Our Da Vinci

Adam has been enjoying artwork all this while. He loves drawing, colouring and making his own mask and costume with papers.

This is an early collection of his drawing possible dated back in 2003

An early collection. Date unknown.

Drawing of his hero ... Fanstastic Four 4

Another Hero Family -The Incredibles

Another 'Family Potrait' Collection

What about Eden??? He is still practicing drawing his circle star and triangle now... Once is has master that, i will get him to draw his version of our family potrait. I hope he will draw nicer hair for me at least :)

Precious Gift of Joy

I have been spending lots of time with this little fella lately. He is going to be 20 months soon. Play time is definately more exciting and fun nowadays... Hehehe ... caused mommy is around of course.

He has catch up a lot of vocab lately... and we all having lots of fun communicating with him...
Mommy : Eden, would you like some raisin??
Eden : (turn his head left and right indicating no)
Mommy : ???? Confuse (but he is a raisin addict) and puts raisin back to the cupboard.
Eden : Arrr ... arrrr .... (shaking his head furiously)
Mommy : You mean you want raisin is it ??? Then you say 'Yes' ( and show him how to nod his head.)

Finally he did a 90 degree Japanese bow with his version of 'Yes'

I like this this photo very much... He was underweight when we brought him to his usual check up right after we got back from UK. Must be missing us too much plus the fever that he was having while we were away. So.... there has been a natural mother's desire to fatten him ever since. I am proud and happy that he is back at the curve ( at the lower end) now. Don't you think he looks chubby and cute???

Yummy Yum

Look !! Look mom..... I can eat by myself.. . I can do it with my eyes closed too. Isn't that Amazing ??

Day Out at Petrosains.

Finally brought him to the Petrosains at KLCC after being reminded a few times that I have not fulfilled my promise ( Folks, don't simply promise your child, if you can't fulfill it, they remembered what you have said with their heart, soul and mind. )

Yes, a mother and son day out and we had a great time exploring the centre. This is a trip which I have promised Adam that I will bring him to, after we are back from the Europe trip. This is his second trip there. his first one was with his kindewrgarden and and it was a rush one.

His most interesting experience was to sit and sleep on the bed full of nails. As usual, he was very sceptical and refuse to try. But after seeing his mom is still alive sleeping on top of those nail, he tried and finally understand the trick.

One thing we did not get to do is sit on a F1 race car and play the stimulator. Guys.... you need to be reaaaallly.. tall to try it. The height requirement, will be an average of a Mat Salleh I think, as it is definately not an average asian height. Adam is into the F1 race now, with his favourite driver Alonso..

Boys ... we shall return when you both grow much taller :)

My Little Helper

He must have picked this habit from me.... :) Good, another little helper that I can count on. Ed and I was just talking about assigning some simple house chores for Adam. ( No worries... we are against child labor.)

There's been more happening at home lately. Since they have more time together at home playing together, that eventually means more figths too. I totally understand Adam's frustration having to play with a little 'snatchy' brother. Somehow little brother would just find whatever the big brother have got in hand to be a 'more' interesting stuff to play with.

I am amazed how much Adam had torelate with the situation. Of course, sometimes with tears and some shouting. But behind those tears and shouts, he will still give. And the happy ending is that Eden will give 'return' the goodie when seeing the big ko-ko in tears....

Lord ..... teach us to give and receive with a cheeful heart.

Good Boss

I got a call from my ex ex- colleaque last few days checking out how things are with me. She told me that boss instructed her to call me when he heard that Galleria has closed down KL shop. I actually can't believe that he is still concern about me even though I am not his staff anymore. I suppose he did not call me directly as he think I may feel akward and embarassed about losing the job. I am not sure if that its typical Japanese but he has surely show me lots of extra kindness and understanding while working with him.

God has definately blessed me with good bosses thoroughout my working years. They (except one) have showed favour and kindness to me and I have enjoyed working with and for them. Yes ... having a good boss is important and I thank God for all of them even the bad one as she truly makes me appreciate other boss even more :)

Promotion

I am finally promoted into this ministry after a long consideration of accepting this offer. I am now in the Human Development Department with has 4 members - which 2 of them 'indirectly' reports to me.

This is a tough job as they are really new but yet always wish to do things they way and this mean that I have to give lots of verbal warning each day.

Sometimes I just wish that my ex-company did not make the decision to close down the KL Galleria. I enjoyed my 8 months there and wish I could stay on. It was not a perfect place but that was the best work place I am in so far.

But on the other hand I will not get the promotion if i stay on there. I guess I would be too comfortable to make another move :)

This round... my goal is to train and groom the 2 young chap. I definately can't do it alone. May His grace continue to shower upon me...

The World of Bloggers !!

Yes ! Finally I am in but definately have lot more to pick up before using this thing. Being non- computer savvy ...
